Salah: Daily Prayer

Salah is the practice of praying five times a day: at dawn, midday, afternoon, sunset, and night. Each prayer is brief, often just a few minutes, yet it gently anchors your whole day to God. No matter how busy life becomes, you pause, turn toward Mecca, and reconnect with your Creator.

In Salah you stand, bow, and place your forehead on the ground in a movement called prostration. This humble posture expresses what words alone cannot: gratitude, need, and love. As you move through the prayer, you recite verses of the Quran, beginning with the opening chapter, Al-Fatiha.

The five prayer times spread across the day act like gentle reminders. Just when you might drift into distraction or worry, another prayer arrives to recentre you. Many Muslims describe Salah as the most peaceful moments of their day, a quiet shelter from the noise of the world.

If you are new, do not worry about getting everything perfect. Learning the movements and words takes time, and God sees your effort and intention with love. Start by learning one prayer, take it step by step, and let it grow. Even a beginner's humble attempt is precious to Him.
